Our story
Made slowly, and on purpose
Chandriposhak exists because the fastest way to make a garment is almost never the best one.
We work directly with weaving and embroidery families across India — in Varanasi, Kanchipuram, Chanderi, Lucknow and Kachchh. There is no middleman between the loom and us, which means the people who actually make these pieces are paid properly and on time.
A Banarasi saree on a pit loom takes about three weeks. A hand-embroidered lehenga hem takes eleven days on the adda frame. We do not compress those timelines, because compressing them is exactly what turns a craft into a product.
What we will not do
We do not print a motif and call it handwoven. We do not describe a power-loom weave as artisanal. If a piece is machine-made in part, the product page says so.
Small batches
Most designs exist in single figures. When a colourway sells out it often does not come back, because the weaver has moved to the next commission. This is not scarcity marketing — it is simply how the work is done.
