Kesari Banarasi Silk Saree

A pure katan silk drape woven on a pit loom in Varanasi, its saffron ground carried across by a kadhwa buti in real gold zari. The pallu opens into a jangla of flowering vines — a motif this weaving family has kept in the same graph paper for four generations. Every saree takes close to twenty-one days on the loom.
